The 2022 Summer season is now the over and soon the Fall season shall begin...
Before we move on to the action plays of the new twenty teams, sit back and remember
how the Summer season at Everglades ended up...
The Knicks vs Lakers, and Wizards vs Magics played in the
semi finals on Monday, August 8th.
The Lakers and Magic teams would advance into the
final playoff game Thursday, August 11th.

for making it into the final games this season!
It has been a great, competitive season and a big nod to all playing in the opressive heat!

With the close of the season also comes the evals, evaluations, of new players either joining the softball family for the first time or, moving to a new division. On Thursday, August 4th, the perspective new players took their place at bat and on the field as managers observed and took notes of possible new draftees for their teams ....

I am sure you have seen me around the softball fields for a while now, camera always in hand! . . . I have covered sporting events over the years- Indy cars and Super Bikes. Capturing the games and socializing among the players and fans of the D4 league has been an equally great experience on various levels.
Players have asked; why do I come to each game and take our pictures? .... I began attending these games in Fall 2020 as a dedicated fan of my husband, Nick. He was a newbie to this league first playing on Terry Penrod's Thunder team. As I went to the games supporting him and the team, I discovered a camaraderie of guys that maintain a love for the sport regardless of age or health issues!
The Veterans softball tournament in November 2020 was my jump off point capturing those "Kodak moments" as players took the fields for their branch of military service. ... I have written for the American Legion for many years and thought this a great way to continue acknowledging the vets on the upcoming Veteran's Day. After reviewing those images, I realized how passionate these players are as seen in close ups of batting and action shots! This was not your average old guys neighborhood game! I was equally impressed with the importance of the event overall- the opening ceremony, the play off elimination process, the closing event. This is, and shall always be, a very special brotherhood.
I decided the D4 league would be my personal photographic project expounding on maintaining one's youth, regardless of that number referred to as our age... to perhaps instill one's positivity to never give up on ourselves- to support each other in both games, softball and life.
Thank you to Mr. Bigelow for allowing me to become the D4 official photographer. Thank you to all for your captured moments on and off the field!
